From Hollywood to Cameroon: How Colorless Dance Could Bring Makossa to the World Stage

At Cameroun Liberty, we have always believed that the greatest stories are those capable of connecting cultures, emotions, music, and human destinies beyond borders. Today, an ambitious project emerging from Los Angeles may soon place Cameroon, African music, and Makossa at the center of an international cinematic movement.

A Vision Born in Los Angeles

Behind this vision stands Ewing Power Production (EPP), the audiovisual subsidiary of Mason Ewing Corporation, founded by producer and entrepreneur Mason Ewing.

Based in Los Angeles, the company is also preparing the future launch of its EPP Studios in Georgia. Its ambition is clear: to establish itself as a new creative force capable of bringing fresh perspectives to Hollywood storytelling.

Cameroun Liberty had the opportunity to speak extensively with the leaders behind this fast-growing production company, including producer Claudius Erhardy, a former executive associated with major international entertainment successes linked to Disney Europe, Power Rangers, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, and Tamagotchi.

Together, they share a common goal: merging global entertainment with cultural narratives that remain largely unexplored on the international stage.

When African Dance Takes Center Stage

For decades, dance films such as Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, and Step Up have shaped the world’s imagination around modern dance culture.

Yet African dance traditions and musical heritage have remained surprisingly underrepresented in major Hollywood productions.

This is precisely where Colorless Dance enters the conversation.

The Story of Colorless Dance

Following their horror projects Reytac’s 2 Rounds and The Raven Circle, Ewing Power Production is now developing an ambitious romantic dance film centered around culture, identity, and music.

Colorless Dance tells the emotional story of Cameron Lieberman, a 23-year-old Jewish American struggling with depression and personal trauma, whose life changes forever after meeting Symilia Fotso, a young Cameroonian woman from the Bamileke community.

In a refreshing reversal of traditional Hollywood narratives, it is Symilia who introduces Cameron to the beauty, rhythm, and soul of Makossa, one of Cameroon’s most iconic musical styles.

A Cultural Bridge Between the United States and Cameroon

The project aims to celebrate not only romance, but also cultural transmission, African identity, and artistic fusion between the United States and Cameroon, two countries deeply connected to Mason Ewing, who was born in Douala before building his career in America.

“As producers, we want to create stories that bring something new to cinema. Hollywood has explored many dance cultures, but African dances and Makossa deserve their moment on the world stage.”
Mason Ewing

“With Colorless Dance, there is no color for dance. It is about connection, humanity, music, and the beauty of cultural fusion.”
Claudius Erhardy

Makossa at the Heart of the Soundtrack

Music will play a central role in the film’s identity. Cameroun Liberty has learned that producer Dany Brown, who collaborates with Mason Ewing through the label Holotech Records, is already preparing original compositions inspired by Makossa blended with modern international sounds.

The ambition is clear: introduce Makossa to a new global generation.

A Casting Opportunity That May Reach Cameroon

Even more exciting, casting sessions could eventually be organized in Cameroon to discover the future heroine of Colorless Dance. For many young women across the country, this project could represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step onto the international stage.

More Than a Film, A Cultural Movement

From Douala to Hollywood, from Makossa to cinema screens worldwide, Colorless Dance may become far more than a film.

It may become a true cultural movement.
