Is a Cameroonian Music Revolution Beginning?
A new musical ambition may quietly be emerging between Cameroon and the United States.
And according to several sources close to the project, it could change the way the world finally looks at Cameroonian music.
According to exclusive information obtained by Cameroun Liberty, the American label Holotech Records, a subsidiary of Mason Ewing Corporation, is currently preparing a major international project aimed at producing and supporting new Cameroonian talents.
But not just any artists.
Prodigies.
Voices capable of taking Makossa, Afro fusion, and Cameroonian sounds far beyond African borders.
A vision carried by two producers with Cameroonian roots
Behind this vision are Dany Brown and Mason Ewing, determined to give international visibility to a new generation of artists from the 237.
“Today, Nigerian artists are selling out venues across the United States, their music is played in American clubs, and every community dances to it. So why not Cameroon?”
For the two producers, Cameroon possesses one of the richest musical heritages in Africa.
And it is time for the world to hear it.
Honoring the legends of Makossa
A central part of the mission is also to remind younger generations of the artists who shaped Cameroonian music.
Among the historic figures frequently cited:
- Sallé John
- Ben Decca
- Grace Decca
- Petit Pays
- Dina Bell
- Prince Eyango
But Holotech Records does not only want to preserve this legacy.
The label wants to reinvent it.
Music, cinema and dance: a transversal project
Several international projects combining music, cinema, and dance are already in development.
One of them is:
Colorless Dance
An American feature film currently being developed by Ewing Power Production.
The movie tells the love story between a young white American man and a Cameroonian woman passionate about Makossa.
But this time…
it is the Cameroonian woman who teaches the American how to dance.
A powerful symbol for the producers, who believe that dance and music have no color and no borders.
“Makossa is an energy. An emotion. When the music starts, everyone can feel it together.”
A call to Cameroonian talents
Today, Holotech Records is officially calling on young Cameroonian talents ready to dream bigger:
Singers, dancers, songwriters, composers, bands, performers.
The label wants to discover the future stars of tomorrow.
