Each year, Cameroon confirms a reality no one can ignore: manga has become a major cultural phenomenon.
More than one hundred thousand print manga are purchased every year by Cameroonian fans. An impressive figure, revealing a passionate and curious youth eager for powerful stories, memorable heroes, and universes capable of inspiring far beyond borders.
Japanese manga, with its narrative and visual power, has crossed continents to establish itself firmly in Africa. Today, Cameroon stands as one of its most vibrant territories.
It is within this dynamic context that Cameroun Liberty has chosen to spotlight a singular, ambitious, and deeply international project: Reytac.
A Cameroonian-American Entrepreneur at the Heart of the Project
Based in Los Angeles, Mason Ewing represents a new generation of Afro-diasporic creators with a global outlook.
A manga enthusiast from early childhood, he grew up watching iconic works such as:
- Dragon Ball
- City Hunter (known internationally as Nicky Larson)
- Princess Sarah
- Goldorak
These stories shaped the imagination of millions of children around the world.
Today, through his publishing house Ewing Publication, a subsidiary of Mason Ewing Corporation, he is developing an original universe: Reytac.
Reytac: A Legend… or a Buried Reality?
Reytac intrigues.
Reytac fascinates.
Reytac raises questions.
A desert town located near Palm Springs, Reytac lies at the center of unsettling stories, fragmented testimonies, and heavy silences.
To explore this mystery, Ewing Publication announces the upcoming release of the book Reytac: A History, written by archaeologist and researcher Jeremia Peterson.
Born in Austin, Texas, and now living in Los Angeles, the author promises a dizzying dive into the origins of Reytac. The release is scheduled for this year and, according to Mason Ewing himself:
“This book will captivate, unsettle, and reveal mysteries few can imagine.”
Reytac Story: The Manga Event in Production in Japan
Above all, it is the manga Reytac Story that is already thrilling fans.
Written by Mason Ewing, the series unfolds within the same universe, with a clear ambition: to speak to Japanese, American… and Cameroonian audiences alike, without compromise.
At the heart of the story:
- Arata Yoshida, a respected sheriff
- Akikaze Mizukami, a medium priestess with a tragic destiny
- Nozomi, her daughter, one of the last 12 surviving children
Eleven other children were brutally murdered, found under horrific conditions at Reytac Station.
Beyond the investigation and the horror, a powerful emotional tension emerges: Arata supports and protects Akikaze… while his heart secretly races for her.
Opposing them are the Gonzons, malevolent entities, and above all Thozor, a terrifying undead being, fearless, the embodiment of absolute nightmare.
A Project Closely Watched by Japan
The manga is currently in production in Japan, in collaboration with experienced mangaka. Details remain deliberately confidential.
One thing is certain: Reytac Story is designed for the international market, with narrative codes capable of captivating readers of Weekly Shōnen Jump, while offering a new, darker, more mature and mysterious identity.
Reytac Story is not intended to imitate Japanese codes.
It seeks to engage with them.
A Powerful Message for Cameroonian Youth
Through Reytac, a clear message emerges:
Cameroonian manga fans are not merely consumers.
They represent an emerging global cultural force.
In a country where the passion for manga continues to grow, the rise of an international universe led by a Cameroonian-born entrepreneur sends a powerful signal.
Cameroun Liberty is committed to closely following the evolution of Reytac Story and keeping its readers informed of the project’s progress.
One thing is certain:
Reytac is no longer just a name.
It is a universe in motion.
And Cameroon is already part of its story.
